Mets Rewind Timeline

The 1978 New York Mets started the season with high expectations, but quickly learned their unproven manager (Joe Torre) and core of young prospects (Lee Mazzilli, Steve Henderson, Doug Flynn and John Stearns) were no match for the powerful National League teams.  The Mets only drew 11,736 for the season opener and barely drew one million fans the entire home schedule. The team finished the season 66-96 in last place in the National League Eastern Division.
