HOJO HOSPITALIZED AFTER BEING HIT BY LINE DRIVE Dallas Star-Telegram 03.25.2018 Former New York Mets third baseman Howard Johnson is recovering after being hit with a line drive on his left cheekbone, below his eye. Johnson was taken from the Rangers dugout on a stretcher and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus said, “It got there really quick. It was ugly. He was awake and he responded to all of the medial questions. So that’s a good sign.” Johnson was a member of the 1986 World Series championship team. He played nine seasons with the Mets, batting .251 with 192 home runs and 629 RBI. JOIN OUR NEWSLETTERJoin our Mets Rewind mailing list for special offers, exclusive content and more.We hate spam.
