Boxscore: New York Mets – 13, Atlanta Braves – 4

Keith Hernandez hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and collected seven RBI to lead the Mets to a 13-4 win over the Atlanta Braves at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. The performance took Hernandez over the 1,000 RBI mark for his career.

His 2-for-5 performance helped lift Hernandez out of an early season slump.

“I’m just happy to contribute for once,” Hernandez told the media. “You never know about these things. You get into a hot streak and it’s effortless. You get in a slump and it is like you are picking up a bat for the first time.”
